ARCHBISHOP SERGE OF EVKARPIA

IN WESTERN EUROPE



BIOGRAPHY :

The late Archbishop Serge of Evkarpia (in the world Serge Konovaloff) was born on July 8, 1941 in Leuven, Belgium. He studied Germanic languages at the University of Louvain (KUL). He was married, father of three children and was ordained deacon in 1968 by Archbishop Georges (Tarassoff) of Syracuse in Brussels and was elevated to the rank of protodeacon in 1976. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1980 by Bishop Georges (Wagner) of Evdokia (later Archbishop of Evdokia) and was elevated to the rank of archpriest in 1985. After the death of his wife, he was tonsured a monk in 1990. On June 8 1993, he was elected to be the successor of the late Archbishop Georges (Wagner) of Evdokia, receiving the title of 'Archbishop of Evkarpia'. He was consecrated bishop in Paris on June 27, 1993. He died in Paris on January 22, 2003.
